OSHA and FDA, Compliance 2021

2020 was a tumultuous year for both OSHA and FDA due to the pandemic. Regulations take a long time to either create or modify, however both agencies had to react quickly to the unique circumstances of the pandemic and address safety concerns for workers and patients. In this presentation, Gary will discuss how compliance in 2021 has been affected. Discussion will focus on how the pandemic has placed OSHA requirements for infection control, personnel protective equipment, training, and recordkeeping in the spotlight.

FDA was also quick to respond to the pandemic with Emergency Use Authorizations to enable getting certain medical devices on the market faster and many dental laboratories took advantage of the EUAs to manufacture products. The presentation will look at how printing medical devices is impacting FDA compliance. Gary will also discuss how both agencies are meeting their mandates for investigations and inspections and how dental laboratories can be prepared if either agency contacts them.
